Silverlake Trout.
By Steve Wilhelm
I just wanted you to add silverlake as a top spot for brook trout.
As a local fisherman it is kinda unreal, the pond was declared a
dead pond for a long time, but right as the waters got cold for
winter they would stock it up with around 800 to 1500 brook trout.
It was assumed that these brook trout would be caught during the
ice fishing season befor they died off in the summer when the waters
got to warm. Well things didn't go as planned and nature found
a way, after years and years of stocking the pond the fish became
native to it. When the pond would be stocked the fish would be ruffly
6-12 inches. Today I caught a 23 inch brooky, the day befor I caught
myself a 34 inch brooky. And the great thing is I caught sizeable fish all
winter also with the many 6-12 inchers. you cant have
a bad day at Silverlake, rain, snow, wind, clouds, any day of the week
you can catch a brook trout. The best thing about it is the trout
are surviving and getting bigger, and bigger, and bigger. The water
levels have risen over the last two years, and its making great
population. Colors adjust and the whole nine yards. So remember to take
a trip to Silverlake right near Popham Beach, Maine. Can't miss this
opportunity if ya like brooks. Fish silver.
