Largemouth Bass Fishing
Currently, largemouth bass are thriving in Geist Lake due to excellent fisheries management and plenty of cover for both baitfish and bass. Bass tournaments are very popular here and big bags are showing up nearly every event this year. Fishing for largemouth bass is good virtually any time they are shallow - in spring, mornings in summer, and during warm Fall afternoons. Use shallow crankbaits around rip rap. Around grass use worms, jigs, topwater and spinnerbaits. In deeper water, big worms, jigs and spoons are three good weapons. In winter, spend your time on deeper structure. Other bass to be caught here include smallmouth bass and spotted bass.
Channel Catfish Fishing
This year healthy numbers of channel cats populate the waters of Geist Reservoir, and can be found pretty much all around the lake. Fishing for channel catfish is often productive around any kind of structure in the area. Road beds, creek channels and rocky points are all good places to begin. Use a slip sinker or Carolina rig with popular catfish baits. Other catfish in the lake include flathead catfish, some of which get to bragging size.
Bluegill Fishing
Fishing for bluegill is a time-honored tradition at Geist Reservoir. Young and old, beginners and seasoned anglers alike, all enjoy catching a bunch of fat bluegill. This year, much like recent years, the bluegill population is healthy and always looking for something to eat. Bluegill fishing is as basic as fishing gets. Any pole, reasonably small line and small hooks baited with anything edible, creates the ideal setup. Add a bobber and you can set the depth you prefer the bait to position. Bluegill hang around brush, rocks, vegetation or any cover available.

Fall Creek Trail at Geist Dam, Launch Area
Located in the southwest corner of the lake, off Fall Creek Trail, at the west end of the dam, this is a primitive launch area with primitive parking.
Geist Launch Ramp
Located in the northeast corner of the lake, east side, at the south end of the Olio Road Bridge, this is a three-lane, concrete ramp with docks and paved parking.
