Lake Maurepas is a 58,000-acre lake, at Maurepas, LA.It is part of the Pontchartrain Basin, and is overlooked by many locals who prefer to pursue speckled trout and redfish in Lake Pontchartrain nearby. So, Lake Maurepas is certainly worth the trip. Over 40 miles of shoreline are lined with cypress trees and vegetation. Pete's Landing Boat Launch and the Port Manchac boat ramp off Highway 15 are the two main boat launch ramps. Larger pleasure, pontoon and family boats are recommended for the main lake area, but kayaks, canoes and jon boats work well for the shallows, rivers and bayous.
