This beautiful lake is right I-20 and has all the amenities for camping, boating, hiking, sightseeing and fishing. In addition to bass the reservoir has quality populations of other fish species. With 376 miles of shoreline to fish, this 19,000-acre lake has plenty of fishing holes for those who fish out of a boat and those who prefer to fish from the bank. Bass fishing is one of the major attractions at Lake Oconee. The lake is home to both largemouth bass, offering anglers the chance to reel in trophy-sized fish. Catfish, crappie, sunfish, white bass, yellow perch, hybrid stripers, and striped bass are among the other popular species found in Lake Oconee. Catfish, including channel catfish and flathead catfish, can be caught using bottom fishing techniques with live or cut bait. Crappie and sunfish are commonly found around brush piles, fallen trees, and docks, with anglers using jigs, minnows, or small live bait for success.
