Known for quality largemouth bass fishing, Lake Conroe is a 20,000-acre lake in the southeast part of the state, at Conroe, TX. Striped bass, hybrid stripers, and white bass also populate this picturesque fishery. Additionally, three species of catfish, multiple sunfish, bowfin and gar reside here. There are over 150 miles of shoreline to explore and wet a line. If you enjoy bank fishing, there is access to the shore from multiple areas around the lake. Boat ramps, marina services, bait and tackle, fishing docks, restaurants, lodging and camping are all easily accessible. Bring a pleasure or fishing boat and enjoy water sports and sight seeing for the entire family. For fishing, canoes and kayaks can be portaged to water from various locations. Spring and fall are shallow fishing time for bass and crappie. Boat docks, shallow brush, rip-rap and aquatic vegetation are great places to start. During summer and winter the fish move deeper and relate to river channels, humps, ledges and deeper points. Stripers, hybrids and white bass tend to follow the schools of baitfish. Catfish are catch able year round using cut bait or stink baits.
