Wrapped around the 880-acre lake is Cherry Creek State Park, which offers facilities for camping, hiking, picnicking and simply enjoying the scenery. The lake has 5 miles of shoreline providing abundant places to wet a line, while fishing from a boat or fishing from the bank. The Marina at Pelican Bay offers a full line of marina services. Rental boats, including pontoon boats, power boats, jet skis, kayaks and canoes can be rented by the day or by the hour. Big walleyes, fat rainbow trout and hybrid striped bass are a favorite of local anglers. Bass and catfish also get some attention and the lake holds healthy populations of both. Ice fishing is available in winter, when conditions permit. Restaurants, stores, bait, tackle and lodging are all at or close by the lake.
