About Heron Lake
The picturesque setting of Heron Reservoir awaits your visit for a day on the water. A local favorite cold-water lake, Heron Lake is a 5,900-acre lake with trout and salmon species. At an elevation over 7,000 feet, the lake is located in the north-central part of the state, at Tierra Amarilla. About 35 miles of shoreline can be explored by boat, and much of the lake can be accessed from the bank. Four boat launch ramps and four docks are available to assist boat owners. Canoes and kayaks can be portaged from several convenient locations around the lake.

Located in the southwest section of the lake, off State Route 95, this is a two-lane, concrete ramp with a dock and paved parking.
