Guide To Fishing At Turtle Flambeau Flowage

The wild, scenic views at Turtle Flambeau Flowage are reason enough to plan a trip here. Yet the fishing is even more compelling. This vast expanse of stark beauty and exceptional fishery will draw you back, again and again.
These waters are beaming with bass, catfish, walleye, crappie, perch, muskie, sunfish, sturgeon, northern pike and muskie. Quality walleye fishing is the big draw here. 212 miles of shoreline wrap around this 19,000-acre lake in the northeast part of the state, at Mercer, WI. Springstead landing, Turtle Flambeau Fisherman's Landing and the Donner's Bay Resort area are the primary access points to the lake. There are also areas along the roads, near the lake, for shoreline access to fish from the bank. Fishing is good during the warm months, and can also be good for ice fishing, any time there is safe ice in winter. Canoes, kayaks and all variations of fishing boats work well here. Caution is recommended when navigating, as there are islands and shallow water galore.
