Guide To Fishing At Hyco Lake
AKA: Hyco Reservoir, Lake Hyco
What to fish for...
Fishing for largemouth bass, channel catfish, flathead catfish, black crappie, white crappie, bluegill, redear sunfish and white bass at Hyco Lake in North Carolina.

Year-round warm water, heated by the generating station, makes Hyco Lake a fish factory where bass and other species grow all year long. This 3,750-acre lake in the north-central part of the state, is primarily a bass and crappie fishery. There are however catfish and several species of sunfish, plus white bass to chase. This is the lake to fish when neighboring lakes turn cold for winter. The lake not only has nice quantities of bass, but quality as well...fish over 5 pounds are common and an occasional lunker exceeding 8 pounds. The marina has boats and kayaks for rent and there are places to camp around the lake. Some of the shoreline is accessible for fishing from shore.
